đź‘‹ Welcome to the PB&J Cohort Program!

Product, Building, & Jamming (PB&J) is a student community for undergraduate students at Babson College and Olin College of Engineering to grow in technical product design, development, and management through design thinking and ideation, with fellow peers who are also on a similar career path.

Our mission is…

 1. Growth — to provide resources and opportunities to foster growth in technical product design, development, and management. Resources will come through the mentorship of alumni in those fields and workshops from our members.

 2. Network — to expand and connect a network of Babson students, alumni, and faculty looking to join, explore, or grow in the realm of technical product design, development, and management.

 3. Design thinking and ideation — to problem-solve through concrete actions to design and develop usable, enjoyable, and accessible products that provide value to users.

 4. Obtaining skills — to hold each member of the club accountable for reaching their end-of-semester deliverables on their projects either in design or software engineering.

Cohort Program

The Product, Building, and Jammin's Cohort Program is designed to introduce students about aspects of product design, development, and management. The program includes workshops, speakers, and support to help students gain the skills and knowledge they need to cross over into the product industry. Workshops will cover topics such as user research, portfolio building, and product management, while speakers will provide insight and inspiration from industry experts. Additionally, students will receive support from mentors to help them navigate the program and apply what they've learned to real-world projects. Overall, the program is an excellent opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience and develop the skills they need to succeed in the product development industry.

The cohort program is closed for this semester.

The Cohort Program consists of 3 parts:

 1. Learn - Speaker events and workshops for introductory programming and design concepts and skills. This part of the program is meant to introduce concepts and encourage deeper exploration into a particular area.
 2. Skill-share/Midpoint check-in - As a midpoint in the program, all will be invited to share a skill that they have learned (whether that be during our club events, or outside) about product, design, programming, or technology in our Skill-share event. This event will also be a chance for all to network and to build teams for potential projects. Following the Skill-share, there will be a cohort Stand-up where those in the program will set their project goals for the next part of the program.
 3. Build - In this last part of the cohort, those in the program will be able to form teams or work individually on a case study or project of their choice. (Projects can be provided if one is having trouble coming up with a project topic.) Weekly meeting times will be used as a time for an informal check-in, where those in the program will be asked to complete or update a project manager tool based on the progress of their project. During those weekly meetings, the Foundry will be a space to work with each other and to ask for support from the e-Board or mentors. There will also be formal Stand-up check-in’s once a month, where they will asked to demonstrate their progress. Ultimately, the entire completed project(s) will be showcased to the BOW community on Demo-day at the end of the semester.
